let's go back to the summer of 1998 I was only 8 (yes I'm young) but I DO remember my parents playing the Fugees my dad was a huge fan and I remember hearing Ex Factor play enough times and Doo Wop, this was REAL MUSIC, not just Hip Hop, it was all types of music combined. The soulful beats, hearing the sounds of the instruments really put you in a place that only you could change the mood of. Bringing memories that only seem to make you smile this is a peaceful musical masterpiece. Lauryn Hill set the standard of what a femcee was (female emcee) and no one has yet reached that level. This album brings awareness to everyday struggles in the black community and black women. Love, hate, poverty, religion, etc. But it's not just for black people it's for anyone who loves soul music. I love this album and after recently listening to it in its entirety with a more open mind this is definitely at the top of the list of best albums period. Don't agree? Take some quiet time to listen to this album thoroughly. She's RAPPING AND SINGING, who was the last female to do that successfully? Male? She deserves all the respect she gets and more.
